Community Adult Learning Center

The Community Adult Learning Center [CALC] is part of the Central Valley Adult Learning Association, Inc. The CALC provides guided assistance, courses, one on one help, and support to the public in the field of adult learning, with a special emphasis on Information Technology.

In addition to several web based courses, the CALC offers courses for people who have had no previous experience using computers. There are also courses on downloading digital photographs and using the internet and email.

For individuals who are unable to attend a class, there is an accredited computer certification course which is self-paced and can be done in the student’s home. The “International Computer Driving License” [ICDL] helps computer users improve their abilities with computers and provides them with an internationally recognized certification of their proficiency.

The ICDL program is attained through a special user-friendly Skills Card, which records the skills a student demonstrates in each of seven computer-related modules.

In addition to services and courses, the CALC is open for drop-in clients, who may make use of the computers any afternoon to surf the web, send email, or do school work. A scanner, color printer, and CD burners are available.

Internet & E-mail Course coming up Feb. 24-27, 9am-11am, $80 + hst. Please pre-register at the YMCA Welcome Desk.
