The Fredericton YMCA offers a diverse range of employment readiness programs. Our knowledgeable staff help clients meet their employment needs, whether it’s a work experience for a person between the ages of 15 and 30, life skills workshops on self esteem, or working with job-ready clients who simply need help preparing a resume. We are able to offer information to clients regarding career exploration, networking opportunities and contacts with local colleges and universities. The skill enhancing programs offered by the Fredericton Y are free of charge.
Our programs are funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of New Brunswick through the Canada New Brunswick Labour Market Development Agreement.

Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program
The Federal Public Sector Youth Internship Program (FPSYIP) was designed to help Canadian youth break the cycle of “no job, no experience, no experience, no job”. Often Canadian youth are unemployed not because of their lack of motivation, ambition or energy but for lack of experience.
The FPSYIP is sponsored by Service Canada and delivered by the YMCA’s of Canada. It helps unemployed or underemployed young Canadians between the ages of 15 and 30 acquire the experience and skills they need to enter the work world.
The FPSYIP places youth in internships with Federal Government agencies, lasting for six to ten months. Interns are matched with mentors from the federal government who donate their time and effort. The mentors provide interns a structured learning experience through which they acquire the skills and confidence they needed to gain employment in the future.
The program is offered to all youth regardless of their level of education.
